Chapter I – Whatever That Hurts
Opening
Centuries after the fall of human civilization, the world has become a mixture of ruined industrial cities and medieval kingdoms.
Before the collapse, vampires had survived
through advanced biotechnology that eliminated their need to hunt humans. When civilization fell, so did that technology. Forced back to their instincts, they once again preyed upon mankind.
At the same time, the Lycans emerged from the shadows.
Stronger, organized, and capable of confronting the vampires, they became humanity's protectors. The war lasted for generations until the vampires were driven to extinction.
Humanity survived.
The Lycans inherited the world.
A New Order
With no common enemy left, Lycan rule slowly transformed into dominance.
Humans rebuilt the world under Lycan protection, but they never became equals. They paid crushing taxes, possessed few rights, and occupied the lowest social class.
Yet life could not be controlled completely.
Friendships formed.
Families formed.
Love ignored the laws.
Children of mixed Lycan and human ancestry became increasingly common.
The ruling class saw only one consequence:
The Lycan race was disappearing.
Generation after generation, more descendants lost the natural ability to transform.
Some could never transform at all.
The Project
The greatest Lycan scientists devoted themselves to reversing the decline.
Their solution was revolutionary.
Every newborn Lycan would receive a biomechanical capsule permanently attached beside the heart.
The capsule continuously absorbed a small portion of every physical and emotional pain its host experienced throughout life.
The person remained perfectly normal.
They still cried.
They still loved.
They still grieved.
Only a fraction of every painful experience was quietly stored inside the capsule.
When adulthood arrived, a controlled procedure shattered the capsule.
The accumulated pain flooded back into the body, triggering dormant Lycan genes and forcing the first transformation.
Early results were encouraging.
Subjects with approximately 40% Lycan purity reached 60% after transformation.
Years later, improvements pushed most subjects from 60% to nearly 80%.
But another discovery changed the entire program.
Whatever That Hurts
Scientists realized that ordinary life did not produce enough pain.
Minor injuries.
Everyday disappointments.
Small losses.
They contributed almost nothing.
Meaningful pain mattered.
Deep pain.
Lasting pain.
Pain that changed a person forever.
From that moment, Lycan children were deliberately subjected to brutal combat training, ritual duels, survival trials, and carefully controlled ordeals.
The purpose was no longer merely to produce stronger warriors.
It was to feed the capsule.
The greater the suffering...
the stronger the rebirth.

Chapter II – The Ar
The Lost Heir
While the purification project advanced, tragedy struck the ruling family.
The Alpha Lycan's only son disappeared during a violent insurgent attack.
His escort was slaughtered.
The child vanished.
Despite decades of searching, no trace of him was ever found.
The Alpha refused to believe his son had died.
The search never ended.
New intelligence divisions were created.
Entire regions remained under constant surveillance.
Every rumor was investigated.
Unknown to everyone...
the child had survived.
He was rescued and adopted by a human family living far from Lycan territory.
They never knew who he truly was.
The father occasionally suspected there was something unusual about the boy, but never allowed suspicion to replace love.
He raised him as his own son.
The young man grew into adulthood among humans.
He worked beside them.
Laughed with them.
Belonged with them.
And quietly fell in love with the family's daughter.
The feeling was mutual.
Neither ever needed to say it aloud.
The Missing Piece
Unlike every other Lycan child, he never entered the purification program.
He never endured ritual combat.
Never participated in pain trials.
Never experienced the engineered suffering designed to strengthen the capsule.
His capsule remained almost empty.
Only childhood scrapes...
a few bruises...
and ordinary hardships were ever recorded.
Scientists would later estimate that his capsule contained less accumulated pain than almost any Lycan of his generation.
Until one day...
it received its first truly significant entry.
Love.
And the fear of losing it.
The Search Ends
Decades after his disappearance, Lycan scientists perfected a genetic tracking system capable of identifying descendants of specific bloodlines.
The missing heir's general location had finally been found.
A scientific team accompanied by Lycan police arrived at the family's home.
Blood samples were demanded.
The family resisted.
The officers became increasingly aggressive.
When one officer shoved the young woman aside, the young man stepped forward.
Weapons were raised.
An officer fired.
The bullet was meant for him.
She stepped between them.
The round passed through her...
and into him.
Both collapsed.
The scientist accompanying the raid erupted in anger.
Not because the girl had been shot.
Because he feared the impossible had happened.
They may have just killed the Alpha's son.
As medics rushed toward the wounded man, the scientist collected blood from the ground and initiated an emergency genetic analysis.
Rebirth
The young woman lay dying in his arms.
"I'm afraid," she whispered.
He held her tightly.
"Don't be."
"I'm coming with you."
She smiled faintly.
Then she was gone.
His heartbeat slowed.
His vision faded.
He waited to follow her.
Instead...
his wounds began to close.
The bullet had shattered the capsule.
Its contents poured directly into his bloodstream.
As every fragment of pain the capsule was pouring in his blood stream, more pain and agony was collected in the capsule for losing the love of his life and not dying with her.
The scientist looked down at his scanner.
The numbers appeared.
100%
He froze.
It was impossible.
Generations of carefully engineered suffering...
Years of scientific refinement...
Thousands of experimental subjects...
None had ever reached perfection.
Then he understood.
The others had filled their capsules through manufactured pain.
This one had not.
His capsule had remained almost empty throughout his entire life.
Until a single moment.
The loss of the woman he loved.
One genuine heartbreak had accomplished what decades of engineered suffering never could.
The scientist slowly raised his eyes.
The wounded young man was gone.
Standing in his place...
was the largest Lycan ever witnessed.
Twice the size of those surrounding him.
His wounds completely healed.
The police opened fire.
The bullets meant nothing.
The creature released a roar that echoed across the valley...
and leaped toward them with claws outstretched.
Cut to black.
